AeroAstro Announces GeoFencing as New Asset Tracking Data Portal Feature

Ashburn, VA, April 16, 2007 /AEROASTRO, INC./ AeroAstro, a microsatellite technology and communications pioneer, today announced that it has released a GeoFencing enhancement to its SENS Data Portal for use with its satellite asset tracking service.  AeroAstro’s GeoFencing feature uses the Data Portal’s Google Earth interface.

The new GeoFencing capability will allow users to define a boundary of normal business operations for their fleets with alarms and other fleet management features when those boundaries are crossed.  GeoFencing will enable users to identify deviations from expected routes, reduce liabilities incurred when state lines or other boundaries are crossed, and improve fuel management.  GeoFencing will aid users with speedy asset recovery. “GeoFencing combined with our new Google Earth mapping capabilities adds significant logistics management value to our end users,” states AeroAstro’s Communications Systems General Manager, Mr. David J. Unlike other GeoFencing methods that require laborious programming, AeroAstro’s system allows users to simply draw a polygon directly on a map in Google Earth to define their geofencing area.  Multiple areas can be defined, saved and applied to various units in a fleet. 

The Data Portal identifies geofencing violations and sends emails, text messages, or other alarms to user PCs and wireless devices.  The email text can be defined by the user.
